HSE SUPERINTENDENT
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The HSE Superintendent will be responsible for the overall HSE management of KCM expansion project to achieve the safety target, to establish an efficient HSE team to serve KCM expansion project management team and contractors, plan and implement the HSE standard and procedure, coordinate the HSE training, equipment & LV inspection and emergency response, investigate incident and ensure the prevention action to be taken, coordinate the security management for KCM expansion project.
MAJOR DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Key accountabilities include:
Plan, develop and implement fit for purpose Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems that ensure that effective controls are in place.
• Develop monitoring systems and processes to ensure that any Health, Safety and Environmental non-compliance is identified and rectified in a timely manner.
• Develop, evaluate and continuously monitor emergency preparedness to ensure adequate response capability is maintained.
• Ensures compliance with MMG policies and practices. Developing and implementing HSE improvement plans, programs and initiatives.
• Provide visible leadership to improve health, safety, environmental and risk identification, reporting and incident management.
• Provide support to engineering, procurement and commercial to ensure HSE standard and target to be achieved.
• Organize the safety monthly report, make data statistics, timely feedback the HSEc problems of the project to the project team, and put forward corrective suggestions.
• Communicate and coordinate well with KCM mine team, construction contractor and KCM expansion project team to ensure the smooth progress of HSE management of the expansion project.
• Conduct audits, meetings, training, seminars and other activities designed to enhance HSE awareness as prescribed by MMG policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all HSE approvals are in place prior to start work.
• Coordinate the security management for KCM expansion project and contractors.
• Be visible in the field, conducting frequent interactions with operations teams/contractors to understand work being done, and identifying opportunities to improve.
• Demonstrate safe behaviour at all times and comply with the site’s standards and procedures in SHEC.
• Promote awareness of SHEC practices and imbed a safety culture.
• Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals that support the department site and company standards.
• Report all SHEC incidents.
• Demonstrate leadership in SHEC through personal behaviours and conversations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
Engineering/Technical qualification.
• Preferably post tertiary qualifications in a technical or management discipline.
• More than 20 years of safety management experience in the mining industry.
• At least 5 years’ experience as a manager supervising at least 4 HSE supervisors.
• Engineering degree in quality, engineering or other technical discipline.
