Botswana Development Corporation is looking for dynamic, zealous, and qualified individuals to submit application for the following positions.


INVESTMENT OFFICER

Reporting to the Senior Investment Officer, your role will be to assist in business development and to initiate deal structuring, execution, and portfolio management processes in accordance with the approved investment strategies, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will incorporate providing pertinent information required for the development and implementation of BDC’s investment and divestment strategy, enterprise and sector development strategy and the department’s business development plans.
  • You will also perform deal structuring and execution processes for assigned deals and draft documents for the review and inputs of Senior Investment Officers or Investment Principals in all stages of the deal origination process.
  • You will also be responsible for actively maintaining the assigned portfolio of companies in accordance with set merits, as well as update monitoring parameters and reports.
  • Collate all required information for investment application requiring evaluation and due diligence on assist the structuring and execution unit with due diligence, financial analysis, and modelling, drafting of investment papers, co-ordination of internal approval processes, and finalization of legal documentation in transaction processes.
  • Assist with maintenance monitoring activities including preparation of reports and presentations, client visits and recommendations for improvement of investment portfolios.
  • Additionally, you will conduct basic due diligence on companies and industries by researching, reading financial statements, and monitoring news using specialist media sources and assess sector implications or impact on portfolio of companies and matter data and collating information for senior investment staff.
  • Provide professional and administrative support to the investment team including setting up of meetings with clients, drafting meeting agendas, drafting minutes of meetings, preparing reports, collating information, filing of documents and obtaining of signatures/signoffs etc.
  • Professionally, you will assist in the management of close working relationships with clients, through regular business calls and client visits in alignment with the client engagement strategy of BDC.

Qualifications

  • The candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline from a reputable institution, and discipline from a reputable institution and / or a professional finance or accounting qualification from a recognised institution as well as membership and in good standing with e.g. CFA, ACCA or CIS.
  • You should have a minimum of three (3) years analyst experience in financial services/ investment environment with a focus on accounting, corporate finance advisory, Investment banking, financial audit, lending and investment transaction experience.

INVESTMENT ANALYST

The main purpose of the role is to provide support services to senior investment staff members in the execution of investment (transaction) processes including but not limited to assisting clients and responding to prospective client inquiries and queries, deal pipeline management, research and preparing departmental reports in addition to other support services that may be required in the department. You will provide required information to support the strategy, planning, budgeting, policy, and process development and participate in the identification of investment opportunities and prospective investment opportunities locally, regionally, and internationally as well as respond to client queries and enquiries relating to BDC investment products and services.

Qualifications

  • The candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Commerce, or related fields from a recognised institution.
  • A Masters in related fields or a professional qualification such as CFA, ACCA, CIMA from a recognised institution would be an added advantage.
  • You will also have internship experience preferably in a financial role such as audit, finance, investment/credit analyst.
  • You need to be familiar with MS Word, Excel and Power Point and familiarity with appropriate electronic data sources (e.g. Bloomberg etc.) will be an added advantage.
