Driver / Messenger Vacancy – Botswana Teachers Union (Gaborone)

About the Role

The Botswana Teachers Union invites qualified and suitably experienced citizens to apply for a Driver / Messenger position, based at the BTU Head Office in Gaborone. The role involves providing reliable transport and messenger services—ensuring timely dispatch of documents and safe movement of staff or materials—and supporting the administrative needs of the union.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Drive company vehicles to transport staff, documents, or materials as required.
• Deliver and collect official documents, correspondence, and parcels for BTU members and stakeholders.
• Provide messenger services to facilitate communication between departments and external stakeholders.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and basic upkeep; ensure transport safety standards and compliance.
• Occasionally assist with general office errands and support administrative tasks when required.

Requirements

• Valid national driver’s licence (appropriate class for driving union vehicles).
• Proven experience as a driver and messenger (or similar transport/dispatch role is advantageous).
• Good knowledge of Gaborone roads and traffic regulations.
• Strong reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle documents and interactions confidentially.
