The positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland.

HME MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The HME Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for technical expertise in the maintenance and reliability of light vehicles, heavy mining equipment, infrastructure and related services in the department. The role ensures safe, compliant and cost-effective maintenance practices, supporting continuous mining operations through effective maintenance management, equipment performance monitoring and adherence to legal and company standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Enforcing and promoting site SSHE standards, legal compliance and safe work procedures.
- Leading and commissioning of new light vehicles and heavy machines.
- Carrying out audits of already approved equipment for compliance with the ISO standard, contractual agreement or specifications and MQWMA regulations to maintain set standards.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory inspections, tests and approvals, Quarterly inspections of (Pressure vessels, rigging equipment, overhead cranes, LV lifting hoists, etc.) and serviced in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications
- Reviewing mining contracts, standards, procedures and ensuring conformance to Principal requirements and best industry practices.
- Developing and implementing QA and inspection procedures for equipment.
- Managing and optimising maintenance plans and work management systems.
- Analysing equipment performance and maintenance data to improve reliability.
- Leading failure investigations and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Planning and supporting Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) activities.
- Managing and optimising critical and strategic spares inventory.
- Providing high-level technical support and mentoring to maintenance teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- National Craft Certificate or equivalent in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Plant Mechanics, Millwright or related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in a mining environment doing HME plant maintenance, at least 3 years of which must be in a supervisory position.
- Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills as well as post-failure analysis on equipment such as Sandvik, Volvo and Normet Equipment.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings and to effectively communicate detailed and complex.
- Capable of reading and understanding schematics and technical drawings, as well as effectively communicating complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Audit and analysis experience with reliability-centred Maintenance methods implemented on HME fleet.
