Maintenance Planner at MMG-KHOEMACAU COPPER MINING

The positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland.
To be successful, you must enjoy getting out on site and have the enthusiasm, and interest to work in a remote location, as well as deliver in a multicultural work environment.

MAINTENANCE PLANNER

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for the maintenance management of fixed plant mechanical and electrical equipment in ensuring optimal plant availability and reliability, to achieve production targets.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:

  • Conducting plant inspections, identifying defects, issuing and tracking work orders and reporting to responsible Engineers.
  • Maintaining accurate asset registers and technical documentation for all fixed plant equipment.
  • Developing and updating maintenance strategies, schedules and condition monitoring programmes in line with OEM requirements and equipment utilisation.
  • Planning work effectively by creating detailed job packages (scope, resources, standards, permits, risks, constraints and sequencing).
  • Managing and optimising the CMMS, including maintenance codes, job plans, job cards and job history.
  • Identifying and escalating all critical issues that threaten the successful planning of work for completion by the required date
  • Determining if planned costs in terms of labour, material, equipment, tools, contract services and any other costs on the work order are within the set cost limit
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, safe work procedures and risk controls in all planned work.
  • Prioritising work and coordinating planned maintenance and shutdowns, including resources, timelines and post-shutdown reviews.
  • Monitoring maintenance performance (e.g. schedule compliance, MTBF, MTTR, availability, OEE) and using reports to drive decisions.
  • Supporting budget development, monitoring costs against limits, and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
  • Driving continuous improvement, innovation and strong Safety, Health and Environmental performance across the section.
  • Generating various reports relating to asset maintenance, availability, utilisation, PPM activities and submitting to Engineers and Foremen.
  • Timely compiling and submitting maintenance reports.
  • Accurately maintaining the assets register.
  • Maintaining expenditure control and accounting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • National Craft Certificate in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Or Diploma in Electrical /
  • Mechanical Engineering Or equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 8 years post qualification in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering field, with at least
  • 5 years in a mining environment doing fixed plant maintenance, at least 2 years of which must be in a supervisory position or a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a
  • Mining environment as a fixed plant Maintenance Planner.
  • Computer skills a prerequisite; MS Office, MS Project, PRONTO ERP, MS Excel
  • Computer based maintenance management system expertise
