Social Investment Officer at MMG-KHOEMACAU COPPER MINING

We are looking for suitably qualified, highly motivated, talented, innovative, hands-on, dynamic team players capable of working both collaboratively, as well as independently. The positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland.
To be successful, you must enjoy getting out on site and have the enthusiasm, and interest to work in a remote location, as well as deliver in a multicultural work environment.

SOCIAL INVESTMENT OFFICER

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Social Investment Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring social investment programs that contribute to sustainable community development, align with the company’s social performance strategy, and support the company’s social license to operate.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:

  • Fostering strong, trust-based relationships with local communities, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitating regular dialogue to understand community needs, expectations, and concerns.
  • Developing and managing community development projects (e.g., education, health, infrastructure, enterprise development).
  • Aligning projects with both community priorities and company objectives.
  • Ensuring projects are inclusive, sustainable, and measurable.
  • Collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and development partners to leverage resources and expertise.
  • Representing the company in multi-stakeholder forums and community meetings.
  • Tracking the impact of social investment initiatives using KPIs and community feedback.
  • Preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
  • Ensuring all social investment activities comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate standards.
  • Identifying and mitigating social risks that could affect operations or reputation.
  • Managing social investment budgets effectively and transparently.
  • Ensuring value for money and accountability in project delivery.
  • Contributing to the broader social performance strategy, including social impact assessments and grievance mechanisms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or related fields -Social Sciences (e.g., Sociology)
  • Development Studies, Public Administration, Environmental Management Community Development
  • Minimum 5 years in Community engagement or development, preferably in the Mining sector
  • Designing and implementing social investment or CSR programs
  • Working with NGOs, government, or donor-funded development projects.
  • Experience in rural or remote communities is highly valued
