Team Leader (Diamond Expertise) – LAURELTON DIAMONDS BOTSWANA

Main Purpose of the Job
Diamond Expertise (DEX) Team Leader acts as a subject matter specialist for the DEX, Diamond Process Engineering, Processing Technology, Procedures and Systems for the Laurelton Group.
Together with the Group’ DEX Team, assesses, assists, and develops processes, systems, sources technology and tools focusing on the diamond technical aspects, diamond value, and yield. The Team Leader also supports the Laurelton Innovation Team in the development of customized serialized production technology and tools whilst working closely with the diamond experts in the field.
The Team Leader engages in Process Automation and works jointly with the Group Production Team & Global DEX Team.
Key Performance Areas.
· Support to Designs and enhances Laurelton Diamonds manufacturing standards, specifications definitions in collaboration with the Group Production team & Global DEX team.
· Performs approved experiments of new techniques that can be used in process development.
· Based on the Laurelton Diamond procedural approach and Standard Flow – Promotes standardization across the network.
· Analyses practices within operations and recommends best manufacturing practices.
· Reviews processes, procedures and engages teams on optimizations and operations enhancements, across all serialized facilities.
· Supports teams in developing training materials in all manufacturing areas, being diamond preparation, quality assurance, production processes and quality control.
· Performs targeted DEX training in coordination with Group Production staff & Global DEX Team.
· Leads process audits to enhance compliance and works with teams to implement identified improvement opportunities.
· Be the integral team leader for development of diamond process flow, defining all process stages including inputs and outputs (description, Method, Weight tolerance, Process dependencies, etc) and updates these in Fantasy ERP system.

· Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: The capacity to analyse complex information, identify issues (e.g., origin, treatments), and develop solutions, especially when evaluating rough diamonds or appraising unique pieces.
· Patience and Concentration: The intricate nature of working with diamonds requires sustained concentration and patience, particularly during detailed grading or planning processes.
· Adaptability and Continuous Learning: A willingness to stay updated on new technologies, industry best practices, and evolving market trends.
Qualifications:
· Cambridge Certificate
· Diploma in Gemology or higher in a related field
· In-depth knowledge of diamond properties, treatments, and grading standards.
· Gemological Knowledge: Deep understanding of the GIA International Diamond Grading System™ and     the “Four Cs” (cut, color, clarity, and carat weight).
· Must have extensive experience in production of polished round brilliant diamonds.
· Grading and Evaluation: Expertise in accurately assessing diamond quality, including brilliance, symmetry, proportions, and identifying inclusions or flaws.
Experience:
· At least 10 years’ experience as a Diamond expert plus 5 years in a supervisory role
· Certification from a gemological institute would be an added advantage
