Chief Executive Officer – Botswana Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association

The Organization
The Botswana Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association (BEAPB) is registered under Societies’ Act as an association. The main function of the Association as articulated in its Constitution amongst others include to promote the sustainable management of the environment through realization of quality environmental assessment in Botswana and to advocate for the welfare of members in the execution of their duties as Environmental Assessment Practitioners.

The Applicant
The Association is looking to employ a self-driven and assertive individual to serve as Chief Executive Officer(CEO). The incumbent will be answerable to and under the supervision of the Executive Committee (ExCo) through its Chairperson. Key among a suite of responsibilities; the CEO will drive the implementation of the Associations’ strategic objectives through operationalizing its decisions and policies.

Job Purpose
As the overall accounting officer; the Executive Secretary who will report to ExCo Chairperson will provide managerial and strategic leadership; serve as secretary to the ExCo; ensure registration of
members is done proficiently in an above board manner; serve the Board’s constituents and key stakeholders; over and above, ensuring compliance to all applicable legislative requirements.

Key Functions or Responsibilities
• Organisational leadership, ExCo Administration and Support;
• ExCo Secretary Services;
• Human Resource Management;
• General Administration, Programme Development, Service Provision and Support;
• Financial Management, Facilities and Equipment Management;
• Revenue Generation and Financial Sustainability Drive;
• Ensure Compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, and;
• To carry out any other duties as instructed by the ExCo.

Requirements for the Position Experience and Competencies
• A minimum of three years’ work experience in a leadership or business management position.
• Experience in an environmental or natural resource management sector and/ or related sector of the economy would be an added advantage;
• Strong decision-making abilities and decisiveness
• Demonstrable ability to be proactive, initiate, develop and engage in fund raising activities;
• Demonstrable ability to conceptualize, develop and write quality proposals to raise funds for projects;
• Evidence of ability to network and create win-win organizational partnerships;
• Ability to use standard office administration information communications software such as Microsoft Office suite applications e.g. MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word etc.
• Must demonstrate some degree of financial and accounting literacy

Qualifications
• A bachelor of arts or social science degree in any environmental field. Having a course in business management or related field will be an added advantage.
• A valid and clean driver’s license;
• Open to citizens of Botswana only.
• No criminal record.

Conditions of Service
• The office will be based in Gaborone, but the incumbent shall be required to travel as and when necessary outside their duty station;
• Salary – BEAPA offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience;
• Appointment will be for a three (3) years contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
