IT Specialist – PREMIUM RESOURCES BOTSWANA

Premium Resources Botswana (PRB), a subsidiary of NexMetals Mining is seeking a highly capable and resourceful Information Technology (IT) Specialist to oversee and coordinate all information technology functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing robust internal controls, ensuring information security compliance, and conducting regular audits of the company’s IT infrastructure and systems to support the needs of the company whilst ensuring system uptime and smooth integration of IT and operational technologies (OT).

Key Responsibilities:

Internal IT Governance & Controls

  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal IT policies, controls, and procedures aligned with industry best practices.
  • Oversee compliance with internal IT protocols including access control, system usage, backup protocols, and data handling.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and recommend mitigations.

Operational Technology (OT) Support

  • Collaborate with site engineers to support SCADA systems, IoT sensors, fleet management, and mining automation platforms.
  • Assist in data collection and transmission from real-time monitoring systems and drilling equipment.
  • Support the secure integration of IT and OT systems.
  • Support the setup and maintenance of systems and networks critical to the project (e.g., geological data platforms, communication systems).
  • Provide guidance or oversight on systems related to field-based operations, including rig site connectivity and remote access security.

Vendor & Service Provider Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and the outsourced IT service provider.
  • Monitor performance against service level agreements (SLAs), escalate issues, and ensure timely resolution.

IT & Information Security Audit

  • Audit all IT and information security infrastructure including networks, user devices, storage systems, and cloud services.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and work with vendors or internal stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Maintain a clear inventory and audit trail of all IT assets and software licenses.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in IT support & operations, including vendor management and IT auditing.
  • Strong understanding of IT governance, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001), and control implementation.
  • Prior experience supporting industrial or remote operational environments (e.g., mining, exploration) is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating outsourced IT services and managing SLAs.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel to remote mine sites as required.
