The position is responsible for implementing, maintaining risk management and integrated assurance across the Motheo operations asset.
The position is responsible for implementing, maintaining risk management and integrated assurance across the Motheo operations asset. The role supports the execution of integrated assurance activities, ensuring that risk, compliance, internal controls and audit efforts are coordinated and aligned with Risk and Assurance Group Standards to strengthen operational performance and governance.
Key Performance Areas:
- Implement the minimum requirements under the Risk and Assurance Group Standards and Procedures.
- Establish, periodically review and update asset risk register relative to the performance objectives, risk profiles and mitigation plans.
- Build capability in risk management and the use of approaches, methods and techniques to embed risk based thinking and proactive control management.
- Conduct and facilitate risk assessments, scenario analysis and risk workshops and across functional areas.
- Monitor the implementation of action plans arising from audits, inspections and risk reviews with risk and control owners.
- Support the implementation of Sandfire’s Integrated Risk Technology – as a site-based champion of the technology, supporting/training site-based leaders, risk and control owners to use the technology.
- Participate in investigations of significant incidents to ensure that risk, control and assurance lessons are integrated into management systems.
- Track effectiveness of corrective actions and assess impacts on overall risk profile.
- Coordinate and prioritise the overall design and reporting of assurance activities (working with Motheo Functions, Group Functions and Group Risk and Assurance).
- Track and validate the closure of priority assurance actions across the site.
- Coordinate site assurance activities including those undertaken by Group Assurance.
- Work closely with HSE on site to ensure that Principal Hazards are interfaced with HSW Risks as part of their design and recording in the Sandfire Integrated Risk Technology.
- Act as the key point of contact with Group Risk and Assurance on risk reporting timelines and requirements.
- Facilitate the use and understanding of using the Risk Management Procedure at the Asset (including training of risk and control owners).
- Support the Asset President and GM Operations with the review and sign off of the Motheo risk register and profile.
- Act as point of contact (PoC) for Asset risk governance and reporting, in collaboration with the Group Risk & Assurance Team. This includes facilitating any deep dives into risks.
- Act as the go-to on site for the coordination and timing of 3rd Line assurance reviews amidst the Asset’s routines and other assurance activities at site.
- Form part of the Risk and Assurance Community of Practice (CoP), sharing insights and lessons learnt within Motheo.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- University Degree (Bachelor/Master) in Commercial, OHS or engineering related fields.
Experience:
- At least 5 years exposure in mining or heavy industry – specifically in areas of risk management and/or reliability/improvement and HSE.
- Experience with integrated risk and assurance models, control frameworks and audit principles.
- Working knowledge of mining or heavy industry processes and associated risk domains.
- Experience working with operators and interfacing with Corporate Functions preferred.
