Job Positions at National Agricultural Research and Development Institute (NARDI)

The National Agricultural Research and Development Institute (NARDI) is a Botswana Government-funded research and development institute incorporated in 2015 as a company limited by guarantee. The Institute was established to conduct high-quality needs-based research and development across the agricultural value chain for the benefit of the economy, the agricultural industry, government and contribute to the body of knowledge in science and agricultural research. NARDI has a countrywide decentralised presence through a network of Regional Research and Innovation Centres, Field Stations and Experimental sites. NARDI wishes to recruit highly skilled individuals with a passion for excellence and ability to drive the Institute into a high-performance research and development organisation that transforms the national agricultural sector. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacancies:


1. COMPANY SECRETARY – FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Main purpose of the job:
Responsible for planning, organising and managing the Institute’s legal services to deliver efficient legal and Board secretarial services; ensure corporate compliance with national and international laws in all aspects of corporate governance and management; advises and represents the company in legal disputes and court matters.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Law and a Certificate of Admission to practice in the courts of the Republic of Botswana. Candidates without a master’s degree may be considered in exceptional cases.

Experience:
At least ten (10) years’ post-qualification relevant experience in a legal corporate environment, civil litigation, commercial law and compliance with right of appearance in the courts.

Competencies:
Networking skills, Analytical and Problem-solving, Effective Communication, Impactful Legal Analysis and Advocacy.


2. SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR – FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Main purpose of the job:
Responsible for the implementation of the internal audit programme of the Institute as approved by the Board of Directors; evaluation of implementation of risk mitigation plans; reporting on the adequacy and effectiveness of the Institute’s internal control systems and procedures; provide assurance that financial management, accounting and business policies, procedures and practices follow laid down Board directives and are consistent with International Standards.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Auditing or Finance plus master’s degree in Auditing or Professional Qualification in Auditing or Accounting/Finance such as Certified Internal Auditor, ACCA or equivalent. Full membership of a professional association of auditors/accountants recognized internationally is required.

Experience:
At least eight (8) years post-professional qualification experience, three (3) of which should have been at management/supervisory level.

Competencies:
Results focused, Good Analytical skills, Attention to detail, Planning and Organising skills.
