Overview
AECI Botswana (Pty) Ltd is seeking a motivated Blasting Assistant to join the team at Motheo Copper Mine. The successful candidate will support daily blasting operations, ensure site safety, and uphold quality standards under the supervision of blasting professionals.
Key Responsibilities
-Assist with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) compliance and reporting.
-Support quality checks of bench explosives.
-Adhere to all company and legal explosives handling regulations.
-Assist the MMU team with day-to-day blasting and bench operations.
-Perform general duties during charging and blasting.
-Maintain tools, PPE, and blasting equipment in good condition.
-Support site housekeeping before and after blasts.
-Assist during MMU breakdowns, services, and calibrations.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements
-At least a Cambridge ‘O’ Level / BGCSE certificate or equivalent.
-Possession of a valid Open Pit Blasting Licence is an added advantage.
-Valid Class B Driver’s Licence (Class C is a plus).
-Prior experience in blasting or explosives handling preferred.
-Must be a Botswana citizen.
-Fluent in Setswana and English.
-Knowledge of AECI products and explosives safety is an advantage.
-Physically fit and able to work in outdoor, remote mine conditions.
