Collective Bargaining Officer – BOTSWANA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES UNION

BOPEU invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Collective Bargaining Officer, tenable at the Union’s Head Office in Gaborone.
Purpose of the Job
-To provide technical support in labour relations, collective bargaining, negotiations, and research services, ensuring the effective promotion and protection of members’ interests while enhancing their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
-Conduct research and draft bargaining position papers and counter proposals for presentation at collective bargaining structures.
-Plan, organise, and coordinate internal collective bargaining and negotiation meetings.
-Represent BOPEU at various collective bargaining structures.
-Develop and maintain follow-up systems for actions arising from bargaining meetings.
-Prepare reports on labour negotiations and bargaining activities.
-Provide training to shop stewards on bargaining and negotiation processes.
-Assist in promoting healthy relationships with the media.
-Recommend effective collective bargaining strategies.
-Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.
-Perform any other related duties as assigned to support the Union’s mandate.
Qualifications & Experience
-Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Labour Relations, Business, Accounting, or related field.
-Minimum of two (2) years post-graduate experience in a labour union or related environment.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications.
