Construction Supervisor – Jwaneng Underground Mining Development Project

Overview:
Redpath Botswana, a subsidiary of Redpath – the world’s premier full-service underground mining contractor, is seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Supervisor for the new Jwaneng Underground Mining Development Project. This role is crucial in overseeing day-to-day underground construction activities, ensuring compliance with all construction standards and safety regulations. The Construction Supervisor will serve as the primary communication link between site workers, project managers, and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
-Oversee and direct construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
-Coordinate and supervise construction workers while selecting tools and materials required for the project.
-Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure the best rates.
-Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards on-site, reporting any concerns or violations promptly.
-Interpret and explain contracts and technical information to team members and stakeholders.
-Provide detailed updates on construction progress and strategic plans to project stakeholders.
-Organize logistics for construction materials and ensure equipment is maintained and operated safely.
-Resolve delays and challenges that may arise due to emergencies or unforeseen issues.
-Conduct equipment, material, and routine site inspections to ensure quality standards.
-Collaborate closely with architects and other professionals involved in the project.
Requirements and Skills:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in the construction industry, preferably in underground mining or heavy construction.
- Proven leadership and project management experience.
- Certifications:
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or OSHA safety certifications are advantageous.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, and legal regulations in Botswana.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team management and stakeholder engagement.
- Capability to manage complex projects and teams while maintaining compliance and efficiency standards.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools is preferred.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project demands.
