Overview:
Absa Bank Botswana is seeking an experienced and proactive professional to join its Central Processing Centre as a Governance Manager. This critical role is designed to establish, monitor, and enhance operational governance and control frameworks within the bank’s operations. The successful candidate will lead efforts to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards, foster risk awareness, and contribute to audit readiness and closure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective governance frameworks and robust control processes in line with Absa Bank’s minimum standards and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular quality assurance checks, Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), and Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RACI) evaluations to identify gaps and initiate corrective actions.
- Lead and support the governance team to ensure operational excellence and strong compliance culture.
- Coordinate audit preparations, respond to audit queries, and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Monitor and manage governance-related risks, including fraud and other operational risk events.
- Ensure full adherence to local regulatory requirements and internal corporate policies.
- Foster a high-performance environment through leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven experience in operational governance, audit, or compliance roles within the financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, governance standards, and risk management principles.
- Experience with RCSA, RACI models, and internal control systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage audits and resolve findings efficiently.
- Leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams and drive a culture of compliance.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Risk Management, Compliance, Auditing, Business Administration, or related fields.
