Head, Banking Operations – BOTSWANA SAVINGS BANK
Main Purpose of the Job
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, planning, and operation of back-office bank functions including processing loan and account applications, processing transactions, collections as well as managing other wealth creation products and associated services (e.g. insurance)

Position Requirements
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting or related area
Master’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting or related area is strongly preferred.
Masters in business administration is and added advantage
Experience: Eight (8) years of relevant experience in a bank or other mass market financial institution including five (5) years of back-office experience and three (3) years of management experience.

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement divisional strategies, policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the organisations day-to-day core back-office functions.
2. Collaborate with Executive and senior management team to develop organisation-wide service level agreements which support the execution of the organisation’s strategy and delivery of its mandate.
3. Develop, implement and monitor operation level agreements within the division to ensure adherence to agreed upon SLAs.
4. Monitor and approve all tracking and verification of new account documents.
5. Verify that each new account requiring special attachments or documents is complete.
6. Approve the upload of the previous day’s new accounts into the organisation’s database.
7. Review and verify the accuracy of all data within the organisations database including new and replacement account documents.
8. Verify that all new deposit customers are properly identified according to the Bank’s customer identification program.
9. Approve and monitor all System reports for new customers as required.
10. Ensure the system is correctly updated and accurately reflects documents received or returned for correction.
11. Ensure that monthly statistical reports are prepared (e.g., Closed Account tracking).
12. Approve scanning and indexing of deposit-related documents in the Bank’s document imaging system and ensure that document corrections are submitted to appropriate departments.
13. Authorise all loan applications for residential, commercial and consumer loans.
14. Verify reports for input accuracy and ensure that they are distributed to the appropriate personnel.
15. Authorise loan tickets for in-house disbursement and balance loan transactions.
