Main Purpose of the Job:
BoFiNet is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Security Specialist to join our dynamic Security team, and the position reports to the Information Technology Manager. As a Network Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our organization’s information systems and networks from cyber threats. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage robust network security architectures, policies, and procedures to protect the organization’s IT infrastructure.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and address potential vulnerabilities and risks.
- Monitor network traffic for unusual activities and implement proactive measures to detect and prevent security incidents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of security measures into the organization’s overall IT strategy and projects.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, conduct thorough investigations, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threats to provide proactive recommendations for enhancing network security.

Competencies: Technical
- In-depth knowledge of network security principles, protocols, best practices and Security Frameworks (e.g NIST, ISO….)
- Proficient in configuring and managing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security appliances from various vendors (CISCO, Fortinet, Juniper Networks, Checkpoint, Arista Networks..)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools for real-time monitoring and analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Certifications on Security such as, CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, CISM are highly desirable.
Academic Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have attained the following:
- Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in network security roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in securing cloud environments, virtualized networks and designing highly secured services/networks in a Data Centre Enviroment.
- Experience with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, DPA 2018 – Botswana) is a plus.
- Proven experience with implementing and managing security solutions in Medium to large-scale enterprise environments.
- Track record of continuous professional development through certifications, training, and active participation in the cybersecurity community.
