Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the position will be responsible for providing strategic direction to BVI in relation to the procurement of goods and services. Ensuring compliance to public procurement legislation and related procedure, as well as, promoting the fundamental principles of transparency, competition, economy, efficiency, fairness and accountability in the public procurement for the achievement of best value for money in the Institute’s expenditure.
Description
The incumbent will be responsible for amongst others, the following:
- Developing procurement oversight strategy in line with the relevant laws, policies and regulations and facilitating implementation thereof.
- Monitoring adherence to annual procurement plans.
- Providing technical advise and support on procurement.
- Reviewing and monitoring supply chain management processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Carrying out market intelligence to identify and recommend potential sources of supply.
- Presiding over and managing public bid openings.
- Monitoring maintenance of accurate and up to date procurement records.
- Providing and professional guidance, coaching and mentoring to staff.
- Implementing and ensuring members of the unit undertake action items arising from SHEQ audits and risk assessments on time and in accordance with the set standards.
Minimum Requirements
The right candidate will possesses the following minimum requirements:
- Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management /CIPS Level 6/CPM/CPIM or equivalent, or Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or any related field.
- Master’s Degree in Procurement / CIMA / ACCA / MBA will be an added advantage.
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or Chattered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) or Institute of Supply Chain Management (SIM) CPCM or Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA), ACCA, CIMA is essential.
- A minimum of eight (8) years’experience in a reputable private or public institution.
