Research Nurse (Molepolole site) – BHP
Location: Molepolole | Closing date: 14th November 2025
We seek a motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive individual with a keen interest in re-search to join the Botswana Sexual and Reproductive Health Initiative (BSRHI) as a Research Nurse. BSRHI is a research programme at the Botswana Harvard Health Partnership (BHP) which aims to address important research questions to improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes among women and adolescent girls. We conduct research, provide clinical SRH services, and undertake teaching and training.
The Research Nurse will work closely with the Programme Manager and Research Assistants to conduct research related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and family planning.
Research Nurse
The incumbent will be responsible for:
• Recruiting potential study participants.
• Consenting, and enrolment of study participants.
• Conducting interviews with enrolled participants.
• Drawing blood from study participants (venepuncture) in accordance with the study’s protocol.
• Collecting specimens for STI testing, including performing vaginal, urethral and genital ulcer swabs, in accordance with study protocols
• Providing contraceptive and STI counselling, care, and treatment to participants.
• Prescribing and dispensing study medications.
• Completing questionnaires and case report forms in accordance with the study’s protocol and entering data accurately into an electronic database.
• Participant retention and follow up (including occasional home visits).
• Participating in continued site training.
• Assisting team members with translation of study-related documents, as needed.
• Stock taking to ensure an adequate supply of materials required for clinical research activities.
Qualifications and experience
• Degree/ Diploma in Nursing.
• Experience in clinical research conduct and knowledge of sexual transmitted infection and family planning methods will be an added advantage
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision Skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Excellent time management
• Computer Literate
