This position is responsible for providing systems, administrative and technical support across all aspects of Sustainability, ESG and Community Social Impact programmes.
This position is responsible for providing systems, administrative and technical support across all aspects of Sustainability, ESG and Community Social Impact programmes. The role will provide strategic guidance and expertise of Sustainability as well as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues with a view to developing and implementing strategies that manage ESG risks and assist all business units to improve adherence to reporting standards.
Key Performance Areas:
- The incumbent will provide proactive support to Sustainability, ESG and community engagement systems and ensure data are captured, maintained with a high degree of accuracy.
- The role also includes interface with the business units to ensure their contribution to Sustainability Reports and ESG related communications pieces for internal and external distribution.
- Responsible for keeping management informed about the latest trends, best practices, regulations in Sustainability and ESG including expectations from the host Government, industry perspectives and the global agenda.
- Design and Implement comprehensive ESG Strategies, that align with business objectives Analyse investment and spend for their environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts.
- Provide advice on community projects and programmes as well as those of business units that should take into account sustainability and ESG considerations.
- Advise & support the implementation of Sustainability & ESG reporting systems and manage data quality control.
- Develop and maintain a sponsorship and donations data management system, including anchoring of policies & programmes and supporting documentation that respond to Sustainability Standards.
- Identify and evaluate ESG- related risks and opportunities to build community trust and grow social investment.
- Coordinate and evaluate data matrices for sponsorship and donation requests and provide detailed reports to Sandfire and stakeholders or beneficiaries.
- Responsible for the community relations and stakeholder engagement framework data sets.
- Conduct Sustainability & ESG compliance assessments across the business units with a view to enhance accounting and reporting thereof and tracking of progress against Sustainability Standards and ESG frameworks.
- Facilitate internal training and support to contribute to business units capacity and expertise in sustainability.
- Support the entire production cycle of the annual sustainability report.
- Champion the use and development of the Sandfire stakeholder engagement data system.
- Facilitates initial community/stakeholder engagement meetings for projects or as required.
- Develop Sustainability & ESG-related content for internal and external communications.
- Undertake Sustainability & ESG tasks as directed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Economics, or Equivalent.
Experience:
- 5 or more years of related experience in Sustainability & ESG frameworks and roles advantageous.
- Exposure to Mining, ESG advisory, sustainability or Environmental management advantageous.
Technical/Behavioural Competencies:
- Deep knowledge of Natural Capital Accounts, Carbon Accounting, the global agenda on SDGs, ESG and Sustainability.
- Ability to assess ESG risks, develop sustainable strategies and effectively communicate sustainability initiatives within the organisation.
- Strong knowledge of global ESG standards, frameworks, and emerging trends, including climate change, circularity, and biodiversity.
- Ability to use MS Office suite of products.
- Well-developed quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing ESG strategies and programs.
- Proficiency in data reporting.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Excellent administrative skills and strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and resilience to see tasks through to completion.
- Ability to engage with community issues in an empathetic and professional manner.
- Ability to engage with all levels of business and across cultures.
