JOB SUMMARY
The Insurance Underwriting & Claims Officer will oversee and manage the claims and underwriting process. The individual will also collaborate with Insurers and Business Development team to provide technical underwriting support and adhering to underwriting standards. This role demands strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of insurance principles.
The position directly reports to the Principal Officer and is tenable in Gaborone-Commerce Park.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Key Responsibilities;
• Receives and registers incoming claims.
• Liaises with Underwriters for timely, accurate, and fair processing of claims according to policy terms and conditions.
• Provides policy wording interpretation and audits claim processes for adherence to terms and conditions.
• Gathers and analyses client risk information to align with risk management standards and underwriting guidelines.
• Negotiates underwriting terms, premiums and policy conditions with Underwriters.
• Advises clients on underwriting decisions based on risk criteria, policy guidelines and claims history.
• Ensures all claims and underwriting activities comply with regulatory and company standards.
• Maintains and manages close relationships with multiple Underwriters and client portfolios.
• Analyses claims data and trends to identify areas for process improvements, cost savings and efficiency gains
• Drives continuous improvement initiatives and implements best practices for claims processing and underwriting evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS;
• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
• Certificate in Long-Term and Short-Term Insurance

EXPERIENCE;
• A minimum of five (5) years’ working experience within the Insurance industry with three (3) years’ experience in an underwriting management and claims handling (both long and short-term).
