Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent – SANDFIRE RESOURCES

The incumbent will be responsible for leading E&I processes and ensuring that all work is delivered safely and in compliance with legislative requirements.

Key Performance Areas:

• Monitoring and ensuring electrical works are performed in compliance with the required standards and statutory requirements.
• Providing supervision and technical expertise to the site electrical construction team
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults on site.
• Develop daily, weekly and monthly work schedule.
• Understand, interpret schematics, ladder drawings, technical specifications, manufacture’s manuals, and maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, and control equipment.
• Conduct E & I audit and performance reviews for proposed control systems.
• Provide technical support to all process plant during Operation ensuring that the appropriate corrective actions are taken to remedy the situation.
• Responsible for the development of a trusting and mutual relationship with both internal and external services suppliers

Technical Competencies

• Strong contractor and project management skills as well as good business acumen.
• Control Systems Architecture: Comprehensive expertise in programming, expanding, and fault-finding PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems (specifically Citect SCADA, Siemens, Mitsubishi and Rockwell / Alan Bradley platforms.
• Statutory & Legal Compliance: Thorough knowledge of the Botswana Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Regulations. You must be eligible to hold legal appointments for electrical infrastructure on-site.
• System Maintenance Platforms: Proficient usage of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) like Pronto or SAP PM to coordinate predictive, preventive, and planned maintenance.
• Engineering Literacy: Ability to audit, evaluate, and interpret complex engineering schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

Qualification & Experience

• BSc. or BEng. In Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Registration with ERB as an Electrical Engineer. A valid practising certificate is essential.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience as an E&I Superintendent or equivalent in mining process plant electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
• Experience in development of Junior Engineers and E&I Technicians.
• Experience working with Gyratory Crushers, Sag Mills, Ball Mills, Flotation circuits and Larox filter presses.
• Knowledge of Botswana regulatory / statutory requirements pertaining to mining legislation, in particular the MQW&M Act
• Experience working with GA45 and GA55+ Atlas Copco Compressors
• Conversant with fibre optic splicing and maintenance of fibre optic network for the mine.
