Mining Superintendent – MMG-KHOEMACAU MINE
The Mining Superintendent is responsible for leading the execution of box cuts, mine development, and associated mining activities, ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, technical standards, statutory requirements, and
operational readiness objectives. The role provides leadership for the safe establishment, commissioning, and ramp-up of Expansion Mines, ensuring operational readiness is achieved and production.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
• Leading and supervising the execution of box cuts, portals, declines, level development, and associated mining works.
• Ensuring all mining activities are carried out in accordance with approved mine designs, schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
• Monitoring development performance against budget, schedule, and production targets, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Supporting the planning and execution of operational readiness activities for Expansion Mines.
• Verifying that mining works and infrastructure are completed to the required quality standards and are fit for purpose.
• Reviewing and approving construction, commissioning, and handover documentation.
• Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to safety, development advance, equipment utilization, productivity, cost, and quality.
• Providing technical input into short, medium, and long-term mine planning.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing supervisors and operational teams.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable mining legislation, regulations, permits, standards, and codes of practice.
• Supporting audits, inspections and regulatory engagements as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent mining-related qualification.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in underground mining operations, with at least 5 years in management role overseeing mine development, production, and contractor activities.
