Main Purpose of the Job
To provide strategic financial leadership to EICB, ensuring the organisation has the financial capacity, discipline, governance and risk management capability required to deliver its mandate of unlocking Botswana’s mineral potential, facilitating investment, de-risking exploration opportunities and developing a sustainable pipeline of bankable mineral projects.
The role is responsible for safeguarding EICB’s financial resources and reputation while establishing fit-for-purpose financial systems, controls, reporting frameworks and governance arrangements appropriate for a strategically important, commercially oriented state-owned investment and exploration company.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a forward-looking financial strategy that enables EICB to achieve its strategic objectives while maintaining financial sustainability, investment discipline and appropriate risk-adjusted returns.
- Provide accurate, timely and decision-useful financial and management information that supports effective governance, performance management and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure disciplined management of EICB’s financial resources, liquidity, working capital, expenditure and investments to maximise value and protect the organisation’s financial sustainability.
- Ensure EICB maintains exemplary financial governance and complies fully with applicable statutory, accounting, taxation and regulatory requirements.
- Build a high-performing, commercially astute and digitally enabled finance function capable of supporting EICB’s growth and transformation agenda.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree + postgraduate in accounting, Finance, Commerce.
- Professional accounting qualification, preferably CA/ACCA/CIMA.
- Membership in good standing with a recognised professional accounting body.
- Relevant management development programme certificate.
Required Experience
- Minimum 10-15 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in finance, accounting or financial management.
- At least 5-8 years at senior management, executive or equivalent leadership level.
- Demonstrable experience leading a finance function within a complex organisation.
- Strong experience in financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, management accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience managing significant budgets and/or investment portfolios.
- Experience in organisational transformation, finance-function development or establishing finance systems would be highly advantageous.
